Our History
Regency Charter Services was
begun in the Virgin Islands in 1981
to service the growing fleet of crewed
charter yachts operating in the Islands.
Several years later Regency Yacht Vacations,
the charter brokerage, was launched
to develop and expand the charter market
from yachtsmen into the general travel
market. Guiding and developing these
strategies, Kathleen Mullen, moved from
chartering and sailing the world on
yachts to a shore side base that embraces
the newest technology that helps sell
charters on our yachts.
Many things have changed over the
years, from the thousands of dollars
owners used to invest in print brochures,
to the transition to selling on the
Web and from simple sailing yachts
to the more elegant accommodations
now found aboard our fleet. Our service
base has shifted from the USVI (where
we still maintain an office) to the
BVI at Wickhams’ Cay in the
heart of Road Town, Tortola. However,
we continue to use a FDIC bank in
the US for our safe and secure Trust
Account, where charter deposits are
held segregated until disbursement
to the yacht owner before each charter.
Our services are based on helping
each owner achieve the goals they
set – and to help you determine
realistic goals based on our experience.
Our fees are modest but are also commission
based, so we do not accept new clients
if we feel we cannot successfully
help them develop their business.
For that reason, all yachts and their
crews must be reviewed for suitability
before joining our fleet.
